A gu that is not a gu -- is it really a gu? Is it really a gu? (Analects 6.25)
The gu-style vessel was used for holding wine during certain ancient ceremonies. Kongzi objected to using drinking vessels of other styles during the rituals and calling them "gu."
He saw this use of a misnomer as part of a general disrespect for and decay of tradition.
