If you want to produce Spanish readily, when speaking or writing, then you need to know the verb forms and tenses. This takes practice--done gradually over an extended period of time.

One way to do this is to read Spanish and to hear it spoken, and then to use what you've read or heard. This is highly recommended for students at any level, but at times may be hard to come by, and may leave gaps that need to be filled.

Another way is to spend some time on exercises. This, too, is strongly recommended, as it helps to identify and remedy specific weaknesses.

This page directs you to verb exercises appropriate for your level.

Broadly speaking, you should choose between the following two ways to practice:

• Do the exercises for Beginners and Intermediates, in which the verb tenses and forms are practiced separately. See the links below on this page.
• Do the exercises for Advanced Students, i.e., those who have studied all or nearly all the tenses. You will go from tense to tense within the same exercise. If that's for you, click here. If not, read on.
